Why structured data is worth ten minutes
Ranking is only part of it. How much room your result takes up on the page matters too. Plain blue links are easy to scroll past; rich results such as FAQ dropdowns, review stars and article details catch the eye.
This generator writes the JSON-LD that Google reads to understand your content. You don't need to be a developer to use it.
Why JSON-LD?
JSON-LD (JavaScript Object Notation for Linked Data) is Google's recommended format for structured data. Older formats meant wrapping tags around your visible content. JSON-LD is one self-contained script block, so your data stays separate from your design.
Which type should you use?
- FAQ page: for service pages or posts with a genuine questions-and-answers section on the page. Google now shows FAQ rich results mainly for well-known government and health sites, but the markup still helps search engines and AI assistants understand your answers.
- Article: for blogs and news. It tells Google your headline, dates and author, which supports eligibility for Top Stories and Discover.
- Local business: for any business with an address customers visit or a service area. It confirms your name, address, phone and hours to Google.
How to add it
- Choose a schema type above.
- Fill in the fields. The code updates as you type.
- Test it in Google's Rich Results Test.
- Paste it into a Custom HTML block in your page builder, or into your site's header.
The markup must match what's visible on the page. Marking up questions or reviews that visitors can't see breaks Google's guidelines.
